BMW plans new mini SUV

BMW mini SUV
German luxury car maker, BMW, has hinted about plans to produce a new version of its mini sport utility vehicle for the premium market.
A report from AMS, the designer and manufacturer of sensors, on Tuesday, said the “BMW is serious about bringing to market a small SUV to sit below the new X1.”
The X1 is a luxury compact crossover car produced since 2009 and marketed worldwide in rear-wheel-drive (sDrive) and all-wheel-drive (xDrive) configurations. It shares a similar platform with the BMW X3, based on the platform of the BMW 3 Series Touring (wagon). But it is slightly smaller and more affordable than the X3.
The report indicated the SUV would come under the model name BMW Xcite or 1 Series Sport Cross or Urban Cross but noted the final name had yet to be decided.
It, however, stated that the X0 had been ruled out, adding the small SUV could be built atop the 2 Series Active Tourer platform.
It was not immediately clear whether the car would be made available to the Nigerian market but the report said it would compete with the SUV variants of the subsidiary MINI and the planned Audi Q1, expected in 2016.
